Are New Grads finding jobs in the Los Angeles Area???

Published

Hello,

I was just wondering if any new grad nurses have had success and/or difficulties job-hunting in the Los Angeles area??

What is your feel of the job market right now?

Has the state of the economy had a noticable impact?

Have you experienced any ADN/BSN biases for open positions?

I live in San Francisco, and the competition for new grad positions up here is fiercely competitive. There are lots of nursing programs graduating a lot of students, and everyone wants to stay in/near the city so the job market is definately saturated.....

Thanks for sharing your experiences and insight with me!

I live here in LA and I see a TON of ads for nurses in the classified and online and thru the major hospitals but from what I hear it still seems to take a while to get hired anywhere. I do not know why though...

I went to school at a University in the Midwest and one of my best friends from the nursing program applied to many of the hospitals in LA. She recieved many call backs and interviews by phone right away. She was even offered a position at the UCLA hospital in their ER as a new grad. She got plenty of calls back from hospitals even after she accepted her position so they are looking for new grads out there. :)
