Appropriate amount of time from interview to start date?

Published

I was just wondering what the normal time range is from the date you are interviewed to the start date. I just interviewed, and they were looking for someone to start two months later (and that doesn't include orientation - orientation would occur starting in 2 months also).

Is that a normal amount of time that an applicant (and potential hire-ee) would have to wait before starting? It's not a big deal to me, because I have interim employment, but I am worried that they might look for someone better in the next two months, and then tell me that they found someone else... however of course if I signed a contract (is that what usually happens?) then they couldn't do that.

I guess they are making sure their bases are covered early on, but it just seemed like a long time to me.

PS. This is a clinic, not a hospital.

Thanks for any insight! :)

As an executive recruiter, This sounds like they have a person retire/leaving(and sometimes promotion) the job in the duration of 2mos. you must be the fill in for this person leaving this position. I wish you the Best of Luck :heartbeat
