Applying for public health nurse job in socal

Hi! I have been a medical-surgical/telemetry nurse for 3 years and I am applying for a public health nursing job. I have recently applied to Orange County health care agency and I'm looking to apply to LA county and San Bernardino County as well. Can anyone give me some insight on the application and interview process? From what I read, it could take a whole year to be considered. Also if anyone works in these counties as a PHN, I would love to hear about your experience so far!
