Applying for nursing school, unsure if I should remain in SoCal or apply out of state

Published

I am almost finished with my last prerequisite before I can apply to nursing school. I live in San Diego where getting into nursing school is so competitive and could take a while to even be accepted. I hear this from friends who have been trying to get accepted to those who are nurses already.

I'm thinking of transferring out of state. University of Texas at Austin has really attracted me. I am also a veteran and university offers a program called the yellow ribbon. From my understanding, they aid in paying a portion of the out-of-state fees per year. I have also looked into Washington State and Portland. If any of the following information is worth mentioning: I have an A in anatomy, A in physiology, and B in microbiology. I have a 3.5 GPA overall.

I'm curious to know why and where you transferred (mainly if you transferred from Southern California) to an out of state university to earn your BSN.

Hello! I'm about to move to Omaha to attend Creighton's 1-year ABSN, coming from the IE. It was the first school i got accepted to, so I committed, but I ended up getting into U of San Diego's entry-MSN and Regis's ABSN also. I wanted to get started right away and get nursing school done so I chose Creighton, and from what I've read on this website it's not too hard to get into. Not sure about the quality of the program, but I sure hope I like it because it starts in 2 weeks!!!
