Applying for a CNA job in a specific unit

Hello! So I am looking at a hospital website at open job positions, and they have several CNA positions listed. They are listed by what I believe is the unit number, for instance: 11-2, 8-5, 11-5, 6-3, 8-9, 11-2, 8-8 and OR Float. I have called their HR department in the past and asked what the numbers mean and the person on the other end responded "units". I asked what a specific number meant and they told me they didn't know.

Now my question is, do I have a right to ask what each set of numbers means? I would like to know which units in the hospital are hiring but I don't know what the numbers mean. When I called and talked to them the last time the person just responded in a way that made me feel like I was out of line for asking.

Although I have never worked in a hospital before and don't really have any experience in any of the units at all, I think if I knew which ones I had a choice of applying for I would definately prefer certain ones over others. But again since I've never applied for or worked at a hospital, I don't really know what I'm looking at here.

Thankyou!! I really appreciate the response, yeah that does make sense. Who should I speak to to find out what the abbreviations mean then do you think? Maybe the nurse recruiter?

umm damn..nah i dont think you should ask the Nurse Recruiter...well it depends how do you feel.does that person seem non pleasant. Cause she might say this person is picky....Did they ever tell you the depts that they were hiring because you could see that way and then call the hospital and front and ask what floor is Labor and delivery then they'll 11-5...lol..i would do that just my 2cents...

I have never met anyone at the hospital I am thinking about applying at. I saw the job positions on the career website and have only talked to them over the phone. I don't think I would ask what each department is if I am in person, but I haven't even filled out an application yet so they will never know who I am. I thought it was pretty normal to want to know which unit your are applying for...

I guess I'm confused. But no they didn't ever tell me the departments they were hiring in because I have only talked to the HR department once and it was a 2 phrase conversation. I'm talking about trying to call again.
