Applying for CA NP jobs

Published

Hi everyone,

I am currently in FNP school in Maryland but originally from southern California and want to move back after graduation (May). I'v heard from so many how hard it is to find a job in California and was wondering if anyone else has heard of this or knows someone who has struggled to find a NP job as a new grad in California? I'm just wondering if I should apply for jobs in MD as well even though I want to move back to CA more than anything! Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

I'm getting the impression that there are jobs in primary care in CA and I see a lot of postings currently (FNP's and ANP's in particular). It may have something to do with the fact that since Covered California (the state's ACA program) went into operation, the demand for primary care providers went up. However, I'm noticing (at least from the job postings) that salaries don't seem competitive enough.
