Hi All,
I received letter from Ivy Tech this fall introducing their new LPN-BSN program. I was wondering if anyone who is in this program could elaborate. The intro letter was really brief. Also, what do you think of the program?
Thanks

Ivy Tech does not have an LPN-BSN program at the Indianapolis campus. Are you sure the letter came from Ivy Tech? There is an LPN-ASN program, but no BSN program. There is a new paramedic-ASN program. Are you thinking of the ISU program that allows students that have graduated from Ivy Tech and you are an LPN -> then you transfer there and get your BSN? I heard this rumor a while back and verified from the Program Chairs that there is not going to be a BSN program at Ivy Tech.
Hi NewRN09,
The letter I received was from Ivy Tech Lafayette. They were going to partner with ISU. My understanding is that you apply certain classes taken at Ivy Tech toward your degree, and you could also take classes online through ISU.
I guess I'll have to go into the campus to find out if this was just a program that never took off, or if they implemented it on the Lafayette campus.
Thanks anyway

I was in the health sci division office at my region today, and there was a flyer that reminded me of this post. I just glanced at it, but it looked like it was a collaboration between Ivy Tech and Indiana Weslyan. I've also heard that ISU had this program.

I am taking classes towards my BSN at Lafayette Ivy Tech. I just finishe a visit at ISU a few days ago. There is an online distance learning class that you can take for the LPN to BSN. There is also somthing offered through partnership with ISU and the College Network. I hear this is a big rip off. The College Network is a Publishing Company trying to get you to buy there products and then they get you. You cannot use financial aide for the College Network either. The LPN to BSN is legitimate. Ivy Tech has had a partnership with ISU for quite some time. You can enroll as a "Dual Enrollment" student. This will enable you to take courses at both campuses which is what I am working on doing. To tell you the truth I visited the ISU campus and was not terribly impressed with the advisors for the LPN to BSN program. I drove 2.5 hours to get there and they were not even prepared for my arrival. The lady that interviewed me did not even seem sure of the difference between an LPN and RN. I plan on fininshing my ASN at Ivy Tech b/c it's a half the price of ISU and then I will transfer for my BSN possibly at ISU through distance learning. Still looking into other colleges though. I really don't want to take any more math classes beyond the MAT 118 and that is a big determining factor for me. I wish you all the best of luck and keep me posted on what you all plan on doing for school!
Thanks!
Dave:)
Thank you for the information, Dave. I'm not sure if that is the route I'm going to take or not yet. I've also been looking into St Elizabeth School of Nursing.
I had also thought about going to St. Elizabeth. I am not sure about taking all the extra calsses for religious studies, etc. It's not that I am against that or anything, it's just that I don't want to waste time and money. I am not getting any younger!:0) I also thought about the fact that it is a diploma program and you recieve your BSN through St. Marys or somthing like that. Well, if you would keep me posted and let me know what you find out about the program. Either way I think that I am going to get my ASN through Ivy Tech and then transfer to a four year institution for my BSN. Good luck to you!
