Anyone work on a "women's health floor?"

I have *heard* that some of the larger hospitals have a 'women's health floor/women's health pavillion" where labor, delivery, postpartum are all on one floor, as usual, but then there are also patient areas for other reasons--GYN related, oncology related, etc.

Have any of you worked on one of these floors? How was it organized? Did the nurses stay in one area (like gyn post-op) or did they float?

Our hospital is ever expanding, and an expanded "women's health facility" is in the works, but no one, including administration, is exactly sure what it will entail, as in-the-works means 5 years or more away at this point. This seems like an ideal job for me; I love working on our medical an surgical floors at the local hospital, but I ALSO love working at the birth center and teaching educational classes. I just wonder if ideal meets reality AT ALL...

My area is considered "Women's Services". We take OB and GYN patients but not BrCA or any other oncology pts. L&D RNs do LDR and antepartum >20 weeks. Postpartum RNs do mother-baby, ante

Ours is a womens health floor. There is L&D, NBN, NICU and PP there. L&D staff do not float anywhere. NBN and NICU float between themselves. PP floor also has gyn surg, antepartum pts. They do not float anywhere.
