Hi,
I am looking for a PRN job and have an interview tomorrow with a hospice group. Does anyone have experience with hospice as an R.N.? What did you do, is the pay more for PRN?
Any info is appreciated!

I make less money working for hospice than I did working in the hospital. I work alot of on-call to make extra money and its wearing me out. Don't know how long I can last....but I enjoy the work.
Thanks for the response. On call or PRN is what I am interviewing for. Do you go to people's houses, to nursing homes or hospitals? Is the pay good for on call? Are you on call for certain hours and get paid even if you don't get a call?
Thanks,
Avery

I work per diem for hospice. I don't do the on-call part, I do mostly admissions and sometimes repeat visits for established pts. I've found the pay is pretty comparable to other nursing jobs. I really like doing hospice. I originally got into hospice because it was the only job that would offer the flexibility I needed (I have 2 little boys and want to stay with them during the week, working only weekends). I actually like it a lot more than I expected to. I go to pts homes, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. Please feel free to ask me any more questions, and I can do my best to offer advice! Good luck.
