Hi! I am going to be attending the boces in Mexico, but I my SIL went through the program in Watertown. Brush up on basic math including fractions, decimals and percentages. There is some basic reading comprehension...if you are comfortable with the math, it is really not that bad. Don't waste money on "entrance exam books" b/c just doing a search for math review on the internet will be enough.
Also try a search on here for TABE exam, LPN Entrance Exam...there are many threads that will give you some ideas.
Good luck!!!!!!
Thanks for the info appreciate it!!
How long ago was it your SIL took the exam? TABE is the test they use? The Math part is what Iam worried about, After you pass the exam, are you automatically in the program, or do you have through interviewing or anything? I know I would do fine once i got into the program, Right now I work with mentally handicapped people, And I do things that most people need to a LPN to do, I pass meds, give insulin shots, & dont get paid crap to do so,

My SIL took it two years ago now & they told me the tabe when I was suppose to take it. What I mentioned above is covered within the math and the math will make up the most of it. If you pass, you still have to have an interview. You eventually need a physical and updated shot record...but I am not sure if you have to have that before being accepted. My program required all that first and also letters of recommendation. I think it may tell on their application. They will be pleased with your experience. Tons of luck to you!

Lexy, I recently graduated from the Boces program in Watertown. If you still have any questions about the program or the entrance exam/interview let me know. I'd be more than happy to help.
