I start work (RN) in a few weeks at the main campus and take the required medication test next week. I have been out of work (home with my children) for several years. I have the study guide, and I'm fine with the calculations. But I am a nervous wreck over the medication questions! How specific are the questions? Do I need to know the max/min dosage for adults and children, etc? Or is it more general, such as common interactions, Side Effects, indications?
Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated!
I went today for Employee Health and to HR to get my badge and fill out paperwork. I take the test Friday at 10am. AND I FOUND OUT THE BEST NEWS!!! It is open book, open note, open everything! Now I'm not worried at all. That would have been nice info for them to tell me originally... but I'm sure all the studying I've done won't hurt. As of Aug 4th I'm an official re-hire at Northside!

Disneyfan,
Is L&D and Mother/Baby pretty hard to get into at Northside? I've heard that they have waiting lists. I've also heard that it is the "baby factory" of Georgia and that they are always hiring nurses. I will be a new grad, by the way.
Thanks in advance!

Good luck! I have enjoyed working at Northside in the past and am looking forward to this time too.
And I passed the Nursing test today! It was open book, but I'm glad I had studied as you only have about 1.5 minutes per question and that wouldn't have been long enough to read everything.
Well Congrats!!!
I'm interested in either WHNP or CNM in the future. I figured that I'd try L & D or PP to get my feet wet. Have you heard anything about Crawford Long's L&D, PP, and NICU?

What kind of score do you have to get on this math test?
It was 60 questions. 10 math, 38 meds, and 12 nursing implementation. Had to score 80%. I made over 90% and was thrilled.
Congratulations! What did you use to study? Did they give you a particular book?
