Anyone starting Sac City LVN Program?

I am starting the LVN program @ Sacramento City College in the Spring of 2015. Just wondering if there is anyone out there that is in the same boat as I am? I got tired of waiting for a RN program in Northern California and decided to go this route.

I am not starting in spring but I will be applying to the lvn program in spring. Do you mind if I ask how many times you applied and how soon you got in? I, like you, am sick of waiting around forever so I am anxious to get in asap.

Or maybe you have some insight on what the average wait time seems to be?

I applied once. I was an alternate for the Fall 2014 session, didn't get in. Thought I would apply again in the Spring of 2015, but I was an alternate for spring also without knowing that you can only apply once a year for the fall & spring pool. Someone dropped, so I got the spot. I got tired of waiting! I wish I would have applied sooner.

Once you're done with your LVN program, if you want to work as an RN at UCD, you should try to get a job there as an LVN. Sure it'll be a clinic job but if you're an employee already and you become an RN, (for now) you won't need a BSN to get a job as an RN there. You'll probably be required to get the BSN within a certain amount of time, but... a couple of my classmates did exactly that.

I should also say that their VN program has some very good instructors. They're very knowledgeable and tough, but they want you to learn and succeed, but you have to do your part too.

Thanks for that info. I really appreciate it. I am a little nervous & hope that I am making the right decision. The waiting is just not for me, so I hope that I can get into the LVN to RN program pretty quickly. I am currently at Yuba College and its not a lottery system there, but it is still pretty hard to get into their program.
