Hello all,
I have some questions about Shepherd Center and I am hoping to find someone who has worked there or works there now.
I am a student graduating in December (BSN) and my interests are ER/ICU and long term, flight nursing. I am particularly interested in neuro and trauma.
I have applied for a position as Shepherd until I graduate and I really liked what I have seen of the facility so far. I am thinking about trying to get a position there when I graduate as well.
My questions are:
Will experience at Shepherd transfer readily into the basic skills I need to work in an ER or ICU elsewhere later down the road? If I spend a few years at Shepherd and then decide to pursue something else, will I be limited in my knowledge or will I be able to easily move into another area? Is this experience that will aid in my later goal of flight nursing?
I really liked Shepherd and I may decide to focus on that, and not go into the ER at all. I just want to know that if it turns out not to be for me, that I can pursue these other goals.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
