I'm usually the one doling out advice on this forum. I am an ex-CNA --- more than 2 years. I'm now looking at getting retested in Illinois and getting re-certified.
I will have to retake a skills test. I've done done this for almost 7 years and I would guess that even though I was a CNA, not all skills on the test were actually performed, and practiced, while working as a CNA.
Anyone else out there try to get back in the biz after being away for awhile? Any tips, comments?

I understand how it is always being the one giving out information, lol. But, we all need some advice or info sometimes. In order for you to really find out how you should go about retesting, ect. You should look up your Board of Nursing for Illinois. I know in the state I live in depend on how many years it has been since your certs expired. You may have to take a course over again. But you can get it paid for if you were once a CNA. I hope this helped. Wish you luck!

you may be able to take the test without retaking the class. Only the state board will be able to tell you what you will need to do.
