Anyone in their 2nd year at CCP?

I'm planning to take my LPN program certificate to CCP and apply for accellerated admission. I'll be taking care of whatever prerequisites my academic advisor tells me that I still need, this fall and next spring. (Like Dietary class and LPN-RN transition)

What classes are required for Fall and Spring of the 2nd year? I couldn't find a schedule online. I'm hoping to find out what kind of time I can expect to spend in class.

On side note... I'm having trouble finding a job as an LPN because I let it slip that I'm going to try for RN as soon as possible. The response has been "But we need an LPN... if you become an RN we can't have you doing the same things and we can't guarantee there will be an RN position for you.."

For this reason I'm considering going back to Vet Teching until I have my RN , and now the vet clinics are scared I'll get my RN and fly the coop!!

Yay, can't get a job unless I don't tell the whole truth about my career plans!:banghead:

Hi,

I am entering my second year of nursing at CCP this fall. As far as I know microbiology is a co-req class for the fall semester. In the Spring semester I think it is electives....hope that helps:-)

I already have my Micro taken care of... I was wondering what "mandatory" classes they start in for 2nd year?

duecedts,

how are you? I'm starting ccp's program in 2 weeks... How was it? Are you working? Any advice on teachers??

Thanks

Hello there,

Sorry for the late response. I am a 2009 CCP grad. I really liked the program a lot. My advice to you right now is to stay up on your readings and if you dont understand something ASK QUESTIONS! Also if you have a chance to do an externship GRAB IT!!!! You will learn alot. Feel free to ask questions anytime.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Hey Deuce, how are you? Thanks for getting back to me. After my first semester, I should have a tech job lined up for myself, b/c my girlfriend is a tech now and her boss said once I get some clinical experience, she will hire me! I'm super excited about it!!

Can I buy your books off of you? Hopefully you still have them. It would be great... Are you working? Have you gone back for your bachelor's anywhere?

Hello,

That is great about having a tech job after your first semester. I still have my books but remember the editions change every few years. I joined Barnes and Nobles membership for $25.00( a year) and ordered all of my books online. You can order them and have the books shipped to the store to pick them up. It comes out a little cheaper. Also apply for scholarships too. They should be giving out the info on that for second semester that was helpful too.

I am working on a sub-acute floor. I plan to go back for my BSN in January.

Hey, I was gonna use amazon... A friend of mine who is in his second year at CCP told me to do so. I haven't gotten any aid or scholarship at all that's why I ask if your selling them cheap I would rather save what I can, ya know. I can send you my book list.. I think there's about 5 books that are required at most then the recommended which I'm not getting. I wasn't sure if your books are taking up space..LOL.. Thank you so much for writing back though, it's very supportive :) That's awesome your working, cause everyone is so negative about if you only have your ASN you won't fond a job... no, you will but you also have to get you BS to further move on if that's what you want or depending on the hospital. I'm sure you have heard it!

Hey duece, get my last message?

Hey Deuce, still around? Did you get my messages? I started the program... I'm already 3 weeks in.
