Anyone live in or from Dunnellon area?

Published

Hi, all - Wondering if anyone here is from or has lived in Dunnellon area. Am planning to relocate there in about 2-1/2 yrs or so, to be nearer stepson & his family. Any insights to the area will be welcomed -

Since I work NICU (and would rather have a lobotomy [which I probably need ANYWAY!:roll ] than do any kind of nursing OTHER than NICU), I'll need to work prob. at Shand's @UF in Gainesville, which will be admittedly quite a hike.

Thanks in advance for your views!:kiss

I live in Dunnellon .. And Yeh Gainesville is a hike but not one you can't get used too if you dirve it enough.. Someone told me there is a shorter route than going through Ocala to get to Gainesville and I am gonna check it out.. I recently moved here myself.. Sept 2003.. Its a small little town great fishing and very quiet.. I live right in the heart of the town it only has three stoplights! I can get you more info if you want.. The local Paper is called the

Star Banner.. Everything you will need or do will be located in OCALA... which is a 20 mile drive. Pleasant little place so far... Give me a shout and perhaps I can help with info ... I am studying to be a CNA/PCT and then on to LPN..... and further... I have a long way to go to be a nurse but my being here and able to ask questions as I go along may be just what you need..

Dropped in here for info myself.. Always got my eyes open ...

and a million questions..

Hello

I am a nursing 1 student after being an LMHC for 10 yrs. I have lived in Dunnellon for the past 11 yrs. I love it. We are growing by leaps and bounds. Cost of living ie housing is the most reasonable in the state! 2 rivers locally, Rainbow (which is spring fed and crystal clear) and the Withalachoccee which harkens back to dinsoaurs and swamps.......

25 mins to Crystal River and the gulf. 45 mins to Shands via 175 35 mins by Williston.

2 major hospitals here, Munore Regional, and Ocala Regional. Munore being the biggest. They just expanded so you might look into their NICU there.

If I can answer any questions about our little town (2000 in town, serves an area of 20,000.......let me know.....

I live nearby in Ocala. The only NI in the area is in G'vlle, Shands. If you don't have to live in Dunnellon, living in Ocala would put you closer to Shands and still within a very short drive to Dunnellon.

Thanks for the heads-up on Ocala, Nancy! We have been looking at the map, and Ocala does seem to be a much better bet. My daughter-in-law and her parents are from there, and we spent several nights in Ocala last year when my stepson got married. We loved it - it is a very pretty town.

What hospital do you work at?

Hello all! New to the board here and am currently in the process of trying to get into the nursing program at CFCC. Anyone currently going through the program? Would like to chat with anyone considering going into the field or already working as a nurse from the Dunnellon area. Many questions!

BTW Merry Christmas All!

I'm not sure if you are still looking into Dunnellon, it's been several years since you posted your inquiry. I am a nurse and work LTC. Dunnellon is awesome, and so quaint. If you take 41 to 121 you can get to Gainesville in about 40 mins. Ocala is also good. You may want to look at Levy county (Williston). There is awesome virgen land up there and going to be a good investment for you. (That's if you wish to stay in the country). YOu may want to also do pediatric home care, where your skills can go far. Keep in touch, I'll be available to help out if you need so. I've been out here over 10 yrs.
