Just wanted to know if anyone knew if Sinclair offered an LPN to RN transition and if so are you still stuck in the waiting list with other students that are just staring the RN program?? thanks

As far as I know, Sinclair still has an LPN to RN transition program. When I applied over two years ago, they only admitted 10 LPN students in per year in the spring semester. If I remember correctly, you then took a transition class and then you started in the fall with the rest of the ASN students and completed in 6-7 quarters. You needed to have your English, psych, sociology, and math done, but even more importantly you needed to pass physiology and microbiology to even be considered. Someone told me awhile back that they were admitting LPNs more often, but I can't confirm that. Obviously it is not a fast track program. Since Sinclair has such a stellar reputation for its nursing program, and it's reasonably priced, I would have been happy to go there, but I didn't get a call until over a year later when I was getting ready to start my last semester at RETS LPN-RN program. So in answer to your question, there was not a waiting list, per se, but once you start the program, it will take you equally as long to complete as a student who is not an LPN.
thanks thats what i was afraid of! blah

I spoke with a counselor a couple of weeks ago at Sinclair and she was vague about the waiting list. I've always heard it's not too long. She said you go ahead and apply to the program and then work on your pre- and co-reqs and if there is a slot open for you and you're not ready, you just go on and continue for as long as you need to and there will be a slot for you when you're ready. I'd assume for that to work out that you'd have to stay in close contact with your counselor tho. I already have a degree so I don't have to take English I & II or the humanities course. I have child psych in my LPN program so I do have to take an adult psych course, communications, a biology course, and a pharm course. I think that's it. I don't have the paper right here in front of me. It's seven quarters long, which is a bummer. I was hoping it would be quicker. You go winter and spring quarter, then get summer off, then go fall, winter, and spring quarter and get summer off then go fall and winter again. I haven't spoken to a Miami counselor yet, but according to the website it's a year long. I suppose it's an accelerated program. There I think I'd have to take Psych, Chemistry, Microbiology and I think there was one or two more classes. I plan on going one day to speak to a counselor there.

i have friends on the waiting list that are lpns and other friends working on the pre reqs that are not lpns but were told that it could take them up to 4 years to get through the rn program!
Yes... it takes a long to time to get your RN at Sinclair. That's the main reason I just went for my LPN and may do the LPN-RN later. I've waited so long to go back to school the way it is and I'm 'old' and didn't want to spend 4 or 5 years getting an RN right now. I think the waiting list is up to three years now. That's what I heard recently. I have a friend who took her pre-reqs there a few years ago and it took her about a year and a half and when she finished she was told she still had at least a year on the waiting list... She wasn't going to sit around for a year so she decided to either do the 1 yr. LPN and then the bridge program or transfer to Kettering. She could get into Kettering right away, so she chose that option and finished up in a couple of years. Kettering is a great school to, but so expensive.

I was told there is no waiting list....but I also have another degree from Sinclair and have all the prereqs for the nursing program done. She said they like you to have the anatomy and english stuff from Sinclair and as long as your certified in Ohio as a LPN it's no problem.
