looking for anyone who know any information about the OR at ST Joes in Tucson Arizona??? or the hospital itself?

I did a summer externship at SJH (last summer). I really liked the place, the people were really nice, and most importantly-the cafeteria had good food! But I don't know anything about their OR:o . If you are thinking about entering the Carondelet System, I would really recommend St Mary's. The will have a busier OR, because the are one busy hospital. I did some clinical rotations in their OR, and they were all very kind people.

It's good to have Tucson people on this board! We are very few and far between...

what hospital do you like best?

Depends on what you're interested in, I suppose. Some hosptials are terrible (IMO) for most floors, but ok or even good in other areas. I could not just give a blanket statement to any hospital.

Do you live here already? If so what side of town are you on? Also, what area of nursing are you intrested in? I have either worked or had clinicals at every hospital in this town!

I am still trying to find my " place " in nursing. I know alittle about UMC and TMC. Not much about Northwest or Carondelet.

I live central near TMC and UMC and ST Joes

These are just my opinions-

TMC- Good for L&D, OB, Psych, ER--absolutely terrrible for med-surg!!!!

UMC, Northwest-Good all around. In fact, NWH has some of the nicest staff I have ever met in a hospital. On every floor! ER, OR, ICU, floor-nice people all around.

Carondelets-the people there are kind as well. There is a lot of people who have been there for years. I wouldn't recommend the med-surg @ SMH, they were a little overworked and mean towards students. I actually had one nurse throw the morning meds at me.

Tucson Heart Hospital-Ugh! It's been open for almost 9 years, and has had at least 9 nurse managers. Countless turnover, and their original mission has been lost in constant management change. However, it's an easy palce to work.

I don't think I forgot anybody......Hope this helps.

Oops! I forgot El Dorado! I have no information on them. I have never worked there or had clinicals there!
