Just wondering if anyone is familiar with Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen? Anyone applied there for fall?

What do you want to know?
Just curious about clinical sites, instruction, are people happy with the program...things of that sort. I know it's a little smaller like Centralia, but that's not necessarily a bad thing! Any info you have would be great!
Both my wife and I graduated from there. It's the only nursing program that I have been through so I don't have anything to compare it to. It's a good school. As far as clinical sites, the first quarter of the first year is spent in a nursing home. The rest is done in the local community hospital. They do offer a wide range of out-rotations so you get to see a lot of different aspects of nursing.
Thanks for the reply. Did you have to travel very far for any out of town clinicals? I wonder where a peds clinical would be done? Tacoma perhaps? What made you go into diabetes education? Sorry for all of the questions! I'm just curious, excited, and a little nervous! :)
they go to western state hospital for a couple days and maybe mary bridge, other than that its all in aberdeen.
i was dx with diabetes 10 yrs ago. decided i needed a career change and went to nursing school to become a cde

I graduated from Grays Harbor College and am an adjunct clinical instructor for surgical care of patients. The college has several clinical opportunities. Pediatric clinical sites include local pediatrician's offices, Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and lecture and presentations by pediatric nurses who offer everything from preventative care to trauma care. Additional pediatric clinical experiences can be gained during your emergency department rotation. Students start out learning basic care for the geriatric population. Total care models are used in the skilled nursing facility for your first two quarters. Hospital based clinical hours begin the third quarter. During these clinical experiences the student has "out rotations" to specific areas such as home health, community health, diabetes education, OR, OB, and women's health to list a few. Grays Harbor College also has access to a new Human Patient Simulator (HPS) lab with three HPS units; infant, child, adult, where we run scenarios for hands on experience.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have regarding GHC nursing program, what I don't know I will find out.
