Hello Fellow Nurses-
I am just getting back into the profession, and I am so glad to have found this forum. I was a pediatric nurse practitioner and went on inactive status in 2003 when my daughter was born. I am now going back into the profession, and I am in the state of Colorado.
I have followed all of the board of nursing's directions on refresher course and clinicals and I have submitted everything. However, they have decided they are going to wait and have a board meeting to look at my paperwork to decide whether or not I will be reinstated. My paperwork has all outstanding marks on clinical performance as well as great in a refresher course. I was told the reason for the board meeting is that nurses who have been out over 10 years traditionally do not do well in clinicals. However, I luckily enough, have done well, and my paperwork says that, so why are they still meeting to look at my paperwork? Is anyone familiar with this process? Any information on this process from the board or the licensing bureau of our state is not forthcoming at all. If anyone knows anything, I would greatly appreciate it! At this point, I have another two months before I will be able to work and it's very frustrating! Thanks, Christina
