I am not enrolled in GJCTC; however, I am enrolled in GACTC (Greater Altoona Career and Tech Center)!!! It's nice to see a local nursing student on these boards!! One of my teachers lives in the Johnstown area, and her husband actually just grad from that program a month ago, passed his boards on the first try, and is now working at a nursing home in Johnstown... so, it can be done! LPN program is a very tough program, but it is definitely worth it! I can't wait until I graduate in August. It will be here before I know it!!! This year has just flown by!
Good luck to you!!! :)
HLZsoon2Blpn I had one question for you, the books that you have to buy for the progam can we be purchase them online, or is that something they make you buy from the school? I was just wondering because I found alot of these books on ebay but reading the information that was sent it seems like I MUST purchase them there.
I went to the Altoona program, not the Johnstown program. So, I am not positive how the Johnstown program operates. Our program allowed us to purchase the books online; however, I only found one cheaper because they used brand new books for our class, so it was hard to find used versions. Maybe you could call the school and ask? I don't see why it would be a big deal to buy them on your own, as long as it is the correct edition of the book!
I did take the psb, I though it was so easy. It consisted of four sections: Math, Science, Reading, and Judgement. The math and science were basic, they even let us use a calculator. lol The reading consisted of paragraphs were you had to figure out if the passage was correct with the current spelling or punctuation. This test was done online and you get your results right away. Hope this helped. Good Luck.

I have applied to the Greater Johnstown career and technology center for the LPN program at the Monroeville campus. How is the program and what should I expect??
