Anybody took bio 145 in hampton roads?

Published

I know some rn nursing programs accept bio 145 instead of the 2 semesters of anatomy and physiology. I believe bio 145 is a 5 semester credit class. I been looking for this class in the Hampton roads area but no luck. Does anyone know if they still offer this class, thanks.

They offer the course at Riverside Hospital if you plan to attend their nursing program. They will accept BIO 145. It is offered at Riverside's school of nursing and it is through Thomas Nelson. It is an arrangement they have with TNCC. It is not offered this semester, it was offered in the fall. It will be offered in the fall of this year though. You can go to their website and when they offer courses from TNCC at Riverside they have it posted on their website. They offer several of the prerequisite courses at their campus. Another thing to keep in mind is they won't let you take Microbiology until AFTER you have taken BIO 145. It is really crazy how all of the nursing schools or programs all have different prerequisites. if you take anatomy as a two semester course all of the community colleges now require biology 101 as a prerequisite. It just adds another semester for prereqs because it is impossible to do it all in 2 semesters now. I hope this helps.

thanks for the quick reply!

How would you differ bio 145 from bio 141/142? Is bio 145 much harder and crammed than bio 141/142? thanks!

My daughter plans to go through Riverside. That is how I know what the requirements are. I think they do the 145 as an accelerated class and cram more in, however I am not 100% sure. I just know when we were looking at all the options for nursing programs they were the only one who offered the course. You should really narrow your choice down to what program you want to go through and look at that school's requirements and follow through. Some require algebra, some don't even require math. It is a big difference. Sentara does not even require microbiology any more. Good luck!

anyone else enrolled in bio 145 at riverside for the fall?

I literally JUST walked out the door of Riverside School of Nursing. Bio 145 is like Bio 141 & 142 combined. I'm interested in Radiology Tech, and I've just been informed of what I need to do to become one. WHEW! It's going to take me going back to college, and lots of fees!! BUT, I wanted to add, the BIO 145 is a PRE-REQUISITE for RIVERSIDE SCHOOL OF NURSING. They don't offer it as a class. For example, in order for me to take their Radiology Tech course, I need college credits of Anatomy & Physiology, Bio 141& 142 OR Bio 145, College Math, English Composition, etc. WHEW!! I wanna do this, but it seems so overwhelming! I know I can do it one class at a time. Hope this helps!:nurse:

I just found BIO 145 at Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton!!:yeah:

No one can enroll for Bio 145 at Riverside. It's a college pre-requisite in order to BE enrolled at Riverside. Thomas Nelson offers the course.
