Anybody got any leads on new rn grad programs coming up??

I'm a may 2012 rn graduate with very minimal contacts in hospitals. Just wanted to know if anybody has any leads of upcoming new rn grad programs they wouldn/t mind sharing. I've been logging onto indeed daily and searching hospital websites. Any info or tips would be helpful!!!
Also on a side note, (more of a venting note) don't you hate it when you call HR and they say they have no new grad openings, but then you find out someone (who is also a new grad) that knows somebody in the hospital is able to secure an interview for that non-existent new grad position...........Excuse my venting, just a little frustrated with the politics......

Around Fall (October/Nov) should be the next batch of applications, if the program has two a year. Some programs do not have an official program, so you would need to check every now and then for those new grad positions to pop up.

All you can do is keep checking the hospital websites daily.

Until then get your portfolio/resume and cover letter ready to e-mail because when new grad residency positions are posted, they are not online for very long. Most are posted only for a week or so, and may be taken down earlier if they receive enough applicants. So if you see one posted, you need to apply to it ASAP because it may not be there the next time you check.

thanks for the response~~~I appreciate it!! I've got all my paperwork ready to go and still continue to apply to positions daily, just crossing my fingers something wrks out soon.

HI Christy,

Just wanted to comment on your vent. It does happen and whether it is fair or not, is not really the issue. I think as with anything, the opportunities you have when you are doing your clinicals are plentiful. It is then when you should be trying to make connections and network. It is the time when you are able to make the best impression and connect with hiring managers on the floors. HR will always be what it is, you might try visiting the floors resume in hand and talking directly to the managers hire. I would imagine that is how people get jobs that are not listed. This is certainly not meant to be critical but a suggestion. Truly I wish you luck.

I dont think your comment is critical at all. Actually I completely agree with you. I've been able to make it to a floor managers office (after getting through security) and had a long conversation with him. Because there are so many nurses with experience applying for the same positons it is difficult for someone justifying hiring a new grad over an experienced nurse. Which is why they recommend going through the new grad program. I'm awaiting those application periods to begin so I can began that process. In the mean time I ask everyone I meet and friends of those I meet :) for any information or tips they can offer. I say great job to those that are able to secure a position through their contacts, it was just a weak moment in the life of a new rn graduate, and i'm sure there are many new grad's that can relate. As for me I will continue to put my best foot foward in securing a job and I'm positive it will happen soon, hard work always gets rewarded!!!
