Hi! I was wondering if anybody who has any knowledge about the nursing program at UTA for the BSN program... especially if anybody who has ALREADY been accepted into the program if you could share with me the requirements and what's a good GPA to be competitive. I know they look at your science GPA and of course, the higher the better! What if you didn't take all your classes at a community college and took them at UTA? I've taken all my classes at UTA, except for A&P I. I took it originially at UTA and then took it at TCC and got an A. I took A&P II at UTA, though, and got a B. I was just wondering if they would consider me more than others because I took more hours at UTA. I'm worried... because I know a lot of people took their classes at different colleges and have 4.0 science GPAs. It doesn't just have to be at UTA... if you know of any other schools in the DFW area that would be great! Thank you! I appreciate everyone's answers! :)

Hello,
I've just been accepted into the nursing program at UTA. It is true that they weigh sciences taken at UTA higher. However, if your science GPA is significantly higher than a student who took all of their sciences at UTA, you're more likely to get in. I wouldn't be worried about the B in A&P II, I know plenty of people who got into the nursing program with mostly B's in their sciences. A good GPA to be competitive at UTA is a 3.5, but some classes are more competitive then others. I've heard that applying for Spring entry tends to be less competitive. UTA is an excellent nursing college, the instructors are really passionate in making sure their students are well prepared upon graduation. (I also have friends who were put on the wait list and got a call from UTA a week before classes started)
I was a transfer student from TCU, although pricey, there is a fast-track nursing program for people who already have a bachelor's degree. If you're applying for the traditional program, the priorities for admission (from what I've heard) are: nursing declared freshmen, transfer students with a previous degree, internal TCU transfers, and transfer students.
Let me know if you have any questions.
