I worked for the Harris County Hospital District for a long time. In the ED. I worked my way up from staff nurse to director. I loved my job there. I could not wait to get to work every day. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking to be REALLY BUSY with some very interesting patients and to see diseases, illnesses. and injuries that you will never see anywhere else, then you should go there. It has been several years since I worked there. You have to have an open mind and you have to be friendly with people in order to get stuff done. Some of the staff there can be pretty nasty, but once they get to know, like and respect you, they will do anything for you. But it is a teaching hospital and you will enjoy working in one. It is where you learn the most. The trauma ICU is very busy but you get really good trauma there. So I would say, go for it. But specifically Ben Taub, not LBJ Hospital.

Hi does anyone work at Ben Taub in Houston? I am thinking of applying for trauma icu. Any insight on the hospital in general? would you recommend it as a employer to a friend? fair staffing ratios? do they take care of their employees? Not much experience but thought they might train since it is a teaching hospital.
Thanks for any insight.
