Any nurse re-entry training in Metro Manila?

World Philippines

Published

Hi! I have been an inactive nurse for almost 8 years now. The last time I worked was in Oct. 2008. Since then, I worked in a call center. I want to work again as a nurse here in the Philippines. Any idea in which hospital/university here in Metro Manila where they offer nursing refresher course/nurse re-entry program and when they will be the start of training? Please send me a comment or you may send your personal message to me. Thank you.

That's tough. You know i was in a similar situation.. before passing the nle i applied at call center with intentions of just working till i got the results. I found out after 3 months of working in a call center that i passed. I ended up stayinh for almoat 3 years. Then i quit to pursue nursing. Its tough in manila... i had to relocate to my mother's province to get in to a hospital. You know how it works here in the ph.. its not what you know but whom you know.

With that said try st. Jude hospital at sampaloc. I believe they take trainees a couple times a year.

same scenario here. I'm planning to practice nursing by next year. Til now , I'm not really sure how to start again. I'm looking for any nursing programs or a refresher course to enhance my knowledge and skills as a nurse. Hope someone can help us and provide a better suggestions.

Hello mon2x_RN, I was batch 2008 graduate like you. It took me 5 long agonizing years before I was able to practice nursing again after making some big sacrifices. At first, my priority was to look for a training program for nurses who had been inactive for so long because I was no longer confident with my nursing skills and technical know how. I was very surprised though that I was able to recall and perform most of the important nursing concepts and skills at the time I needed them when I first practiced nursing in 2013. Like me, I am confident that you would be able to do just fine without going through any re-entry training programs. Joining one will just prolong your wait time.

Instead of looking for a re-entry training program, start submitting your application to different hospitals and aim to land a paid nursing job. There definitely is a training or orientation program for newly hired nurses and that itself is sufficient to refresh your knowledge and skills in nursing. Just read your books and reviewers before taking a screening exam or before any interviews so you can go on to the next phase of the employment process.

Good luck!
