Any LPNs on the waiting list?

Published

Just wondering if there are any LPNs that have applied for advanced placement and are currently waiting. How long is/was your wait? Did you do the HESI-PN and what did you do to study and prepare for that test? What block did you place into?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Have you already been placed in block 3? Just curious i am finishing up my application and actually have the same questions you had. Not sure if you've finished that all up and could give me any advice on the Hesi pn?

No, I have kind of been dragging my feet a little. Guess I'm so worn out from doing these pre-reqs! I have to do the Hesi A2 and the Hesi PN. I start my last pre-req in a couple weeks and as soon as I do the Hesi tests and start the final class I was told that I can apply. I will be doing this very soon so I will try and keep you posted. Best wishes.

I am on the waiting list for the advanced placement at three schools. I have a date stamp of May 3rd. I hope to get into the fall program. Let me know if you have any questions. :) The only thing I could tell you about the Hesi Tests is that it IS information you already know. On the A2 the reading, math is at a high school level. The PN is stuff you should know as a LPN I had to refresh on the subjects I don't regularly use in my job like peds and maternity. I used a NCLEX review book, and the questions were almost identical on the test as far as format and style. Hope this helps!

I put in my application for AP while I was finishing up my last semester of PN school. I emailed the one school once I was done to consider my application for block 3. In less than 24 hours I had an offer for block 3 for this coming spring. It seems like the most anyone would wait for block 3 is one semester, but most get in immediately for the upcoming semester. In regards to studying for the HESI PN, I don't think you can really study for that exam. IMO, you either know the material by the time comes to test or you don't. It's a year's worth of information and you can't cram that into your brain in a few days. Just take your time and read the question. Think about what makes each answer correct and why it could also be wrong and go with the best answer. That's what I did and I got over 1000. I'm no expert, but I just feel we all have the capability to do well if we just pay attention to what the questions are really asking us.

I finished an LPN program August 2009 and finished my co-requisites that fall, applied for block 3 Dec 09 and didn't get in Jan 10. I emailed every community college that summer of 2010 and a day later received an email from Phoenix College saying I was accepted and that was also not the school I turned my application into. Some of my classmates did get into block 3 Jan 2010, it depends on where your application was first sent I believe, along with scores and all. Just email or call and be persistent.
