Hello! I was just accepted into the ABSN at Holy Family in Newtown. I have yet to visit the school. So I am looking for some feedback from those who have attended or know about the program. I have done online research, now looking for 'word of mouth' information. Will greatly appreciate any responses. It's between Holy Family and Desales. I want Holy Family to be the better choice...
Is anyone else starting in May of 2017?

Hey Elizabeth. Do you happen to know about their Nutrition requirement? I took it over Winter Break at Bucks, and I had no idea, until after I received my confirmation email from my application being submitted, that they're asking it be taught by a registered dietician. Do you happen to know anything about that? I really don't want to have to take Nutrition again...it'll be a third time
Just saw your post. I think it will be ok. I am just finishing mine up online and They said they would accept it. Call them and check but my guess is that it's ok. Are you starting in May?

I'll be starting this May! See ya at orientation on March 24th!
Hey Elizabeth, I was denied anyway :/ I didn't have enough pre-requisites finished when I applied, and my GPA was like a 2.9 lol. But I am reapplying for the January 2018 start, I have more pre-reqs finished (will all be done by 8/10/17) and am back over the 3.0 mark thanks to all As in pre-reqs so far. Is this program super competitive to get into? I'm worried a 3.0 just won't be good enough as a cumulative GPA.

Hi Kelly! I know this post from last year and looks like you already in the program! Congrats! What was your GPA when you were accepted? I have 3.0 for science classes and 3.8 overall GPA. Not sure if thats enough?
Hey Aluv. My GPA actually wasn't great because of a rough very first year of college many moons ago lol. I was able to pull my GPA up to like a 3.1 or 3.2 overall, and had a 4.0 in the pre-reqs. Here's the deal. I definitely think they look at you overall and not JUST based on your pre-req GPA. Luckily, for those pre-reqs, you only need a 2.75, so you've already hit over the minimum requirement.
I made it a point to get a 4.0 in my pre-reqs because my previous bachelors was in a completely unrelated field and I wanted to prove to nursing programs that I am a much different student than I was years ago. I think you will be just fine. Did you apply for Fall? If so, you are definitely going to be considered. I wouldn't stress it yet, because they're about to bring in a whole new cohort and they're starting the process of making decisions for the Fall cohort. I stressed like crazy about my acceptance because of my overall GPA and obviously ended up just fine.
Also, you can always check in with Don. I did, all the time. I didn't care if I drove him crazy lol.
