Hey there Texans. My wife and I are considering Austin as new grads. We will be moving from West Virgina. I'm sure we're not the only ones thinking Austin is a cool place to live...So, do you think it's especially difficult to get a new grad position. (We're looking for two) I'm interested in critical care or OR and she's considering critical care or L&D. I see a number of hospitals in the area. Are there any you all might strongly recommend applying to or strongly recommend staying away from? (If we're not supposed to "bad mouth" any specific place in the thread, just PM me your opinion.) How about any leads on new-grad friendly positions outside of hospitals? Thanks for your time and input. We, like everyone else on this great site, are appreciative of your advice. Come on locals... Give me your opinion!

So did you get any advice?
Even though there are a few hospitals in the area, there are two main networks; Seton and St. David's. I used to work in the seton network, and i knew nurses that worked at st davids and came to seton, and those that were in seton and left for st david's.
I would stay away from the orthopedic floor at the main seton hospital....they always take new grads, and there is a reason why; haven't worked there in 3 years, and maybe things changed! :)
Thanks for the input. That's the kind of stuff we're looking for. We are about to submit our apps and resume's to Seton and probably St Davids. Wish us luck!
