i start lpn in jan 2010 and just want to see how hard it is. and which books and materials are really needed. Thanks

I definitely know how nervous/anxious you are feeling. I graduated from mcfatter about 4 years ago. The best advice that I can give u is to develop great study habits very early. Even when it will seem simple in the beginning, its gets much more difficult. Mcfatters lpn program is extremely hard. If you have a job or children, they will take a back seat to your studies for the duration of the program. You will learn a lot and become an excellent nurse if you work hard at it. In the end, it will be worth the all night studying, sleepless nights, and living on potato chips.conrats and good luck!!

I'm currently enrolled there. You definitely have to buy the foundations of health book with the study guide, the anatomy books, and Davis drug guide. The dictionary and the pharmacology book not so much. We used the pharmacology once for 3 pages. You can find the drug calculations in the big Foundations book.

You have to study alot. I am in the part-time evenings so we only do one subject at a time. Full time on the other hand do multiple subjects at once. Right now I attend BCC concurrently to get my prereqs out of the way... between both schools I have absolutely no life. I don't even see my friends. You have to study. You have to study. You have to study. I don't let anyone stop me from studying. You can do it. Just make the sacrifice now and be rewarded later. :-)

Good Luck :-)

thank you so much. yes iam excited. i plan to transition into BC's lpn to rn program in the future. just hoping it'll be a smooth transition after this. the nursing field has gotten in such high demand that its like winning the lottery! iam starting january term and there are 80 people on the waiting list plus the 25 that are already admitted into my class. i originally wanted to go from undergrad straight to BSN but BSN programs only accept 50 or less and i refuse to take out a loan for barry nova UM or keiser. Then i chose the BC route but the waiting list is horrible so instead of being idle i want to do LPN and can start right away. iam hoping to gain experience and knowledge so when i transition to LPN-RN i will be able to be more relaxed, confident and prepared. are you currently still an LPN now? yes i have a job but my study habits are good and iam used to having a heavy courseload. im just nervous theres so many things on the supply list and im going crazy thinking whether or not i have to bring EVERYTHING on the first day? its insane.
