anxious & frustrated

I never knew it would be such a project to line up a job after graduation! I guess I just assumed it would be easier to get in touch with nurse recruiters since there is such a nursing shortage. I interviewed about a month ago and I was told that I would be notified by this friday if I would be given a position. If I don't hear anything by this weekend, do you think it would be pushy if I called? I don't want to seem like a pain but I'm gettin worried! It seems like everyone in my class already had a job lined up

I can TOTALLY relate! I thought I would have recruiters calling me nonstop!! I just realized there actually isn't a nursing shortage anymore in my area, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

If I were you I would call them tomorrow. Nurse recruiters seem like they have a million things on their mind and by calling it shows that you really want the job. I don't think it sounds like you're being pushy at all. After all, you have waited a month, that's a long time!! Just be polite and tell them how excited you are about finding out if you got the position. Good luck and keep us posted!

I would not hesitate to call and ask for an update. When I am applying for jobs (especially at large hospitals), I always follow up weekly unless I have been given a timeframe. Also, when applying, I submit my resume directly to the unit manager in addition to HR. This serves 2 purposes: 1) the manage knows I am serious about the position and 2) the manager has my contact info.
