Does anyone have any advice about how to cope with anxiety related to taking boards and starting as an RN? I am in my final semester of school and would like some pointers so that I can develop skills to manage my anxiety when it comes time to take my boards and starting as a RN afterwards. I worry a lot that I won't be able to pass or if I do I won't be a good nurse after.

Hello Guest1189508,

It's commendable that you're proactively seeking advice! Here are some pointers for preparing for your boards and transitioning into your role as an RN:

Board Exam Preparation:

  • Allocate sufficient study time for the exam. Avoid rushing into work immediately; prioritize the exam first.
  • Explore reliable resources for exam preparation. UWorld is a recommended resource for NCLEX.

On the Floor:

  • Don't hesitate to ask questions of your colleagues. They've been in your shoes and can offer valuable insights.
  • Ensure you receive thorough orientation to your unit. If extra shifts with a preceptor are available, take advantage of them.

Work-Life Balance:

  • Remember to maintain a healthy balance between work and personal life.
  • Prioritize self-care to manage stress and maintain well-being.

Best of luck with your boards and your journey as an RN! You've got this! 😊
