Another misdemeanor question..

Published

Hello everyone,

A few years ago I was about to enroll in an LPN program and one day before I was supposed to sign all of the paperwork, I found out that there a was a warrant out for my arrest. My ex had decided to get some revenge and long story short, I was charged and convicted with a misdemeanor 1 Tampering with Records in Ohio. I was given 1 year of probation plus fines and restitution. Everything was taken care of within 2 months and I had my record sealed last year. So the offense was in 2012, the conviction in 2015, expunged in 2017. I tried to become a HHA for my grandmother a few months ago through the Dept. of Aging but could not. I just can't seem to shake the idea of becoming a nurse even though I'm not 100% sure I would ever be successful as one (for other reasons not about my criminal history) and I am wondering if I should just move on? I'm raising 3 young kids on my own, no family that is able or willing to help and, surprise, no help from my ex who quit his job to avoid paying child support. I just want to provide a decent living for my kids and do something a little more meaningful than retail management. Any advise will be appreciated, thank you!

I understanding where you're coming from I'm a single parent wanting to provide. Your record was expunged so you don't have to worry about that affecting you or your job seeking in the future. As for seeing if nursing is for you - you could do an EMT course and work for a bit to make sure it's right for you. That's what I did and now I'm trying to get to the next step. You could reapply to your LPN program? But honestly you can do anything if you put your mind to it! Just stay positive you got this don't let anyone stop you or talk you out of what you want.
