ANCC Nursing Professional Development exam

Everyone,

I recently took a prep course for this exam, and am planning to test as soon as ANCC approves my application. Has anyone here taken this exam recently? What was your experience?

I took it recently. It was pretty much as expected. The questions emphasized the areas you would expect from having reviewed the study guide, core curriculum, etc. I hadn't gone to a prep course -- just reviewed the books.

Having a lot of experience with Staff Development and gone to lots of workshops, etc. over the years, I had no trouble passing it without a whole lot of special preparation.

Thanks for the insight. I am using my expanded knowledge gained from the course to study the areas I am a bit weak in. Were you able to identify test questions that were being piloted (not included in the 2008 version of the study guide)?

No. It had been so long since I had taken any test -- and my first time taking one on a computer at a testing center -- that I wasn't focusing on anything like. I was just answering the questions one by one and trying not to "fade away" as time went on. I'm too old for a test that long! By the time I got to question 100, I just wanted to finish it and go home.

I found the test was thorough, but not overly difficult if you study.
