anatomy lab muscle and nervous tissue slides

Published

dhey everyone not sure how helpful this will be but im taking my second lab practical and we are working on the muscle tissue and nervous tissue slides. I took pictures of the slides that were on the screen (dont confuse the screen lines with muscle striations) The descriptions are as follows

for the muscle slides the first two are smooth muscles.

the 3rd slide is skeletal

the fourth, fifth and sixth is cardiac, notice the intercalated disc on all of them for the sixth one you can see the rows of intercalated disc towards the center where the fibers branch off.

The 7th is a teased skeletal muscle.

the 8th is a skeletal muscle with the motor unit. the branching axons are the "wires" and the axon terminal are the end points of the wires

for the slides number 2 sheet

the first two are giant multipolar neurons

the big blobs with branches are the giant multipolar neurons and the long arms is the axon. you can't see it very well but nucleus is in the center of 'blobs" and the nucleolus surrounds the dot

the "speckles" around the 'blobs' are glial cell nuclei

the 3rd slide is of the cerebellum which contains the purkinje cells they are the two dark pinkish dots on the border of the purple matter and pink matter.

the 4th slide is of the pyramidal cells, they are the white cells with the pink pyramid in the center , these cells are found in the cerebrum

the 5th and 6th slides are of the cross section of the spinal cord. the 6th slide is of the dorsal root ganglion and its the piece that is branching off of the spinal cord.

the 7th is of a cross section of a nerve, the epineurium is the most outer covering while the perineurium surrounds bundles of the axons. the endoneurium surrounds individual axons. the white part is the myelin sheath. the center in the white part is the axon,

the 8th slide is of a longitudinal cut of a nerve. again the white is the myelin sheath and where the white ends and tapers in is the nodes of ranvier

and thats about everything let me know if you have questions of need help, good luck and study well!
