Anaphalaxis during Chemo questions

Published

Hi,

I am general trained and never worked in this field but a friend has experienced this.

Wonder if anyone can give me any info/advice on anaphalaxis during administration of Chemo.

  1. Obviously the anaphalaxis was a severe reaction to the drug being given (sorry I don't know the drug name) but how long can side effects of the drug last? Usual Chemo side effects are still present after eight months.
  2. Is this similar to the situation of the absent enzyme not breaking down the drug?
  3. Her Onc said she has never met anyone who survived a full crash following this type of reaction...Has anyone else ever met this? Does anyone know of survivors?
  4. What is the long term prognosis following an event such as this?

Thank you for reading this, please help if you can. Thanks
