American Red Cross CNA Skills Test - Massachusetts

Published

I have my CNA skills test coming up this Thursday, and was hoping some people would give me some recent insight on what is involved in the skills test, preferably if anyone from Massachusetts has taken it, I have been practicing and studying for a while now and feel confident. However I am still unsure on what skills I could potentially get, I've seen people get about 6 skills for their state test, but I was told in Massachusetts you get 3 one of them is guaranteed hand-washing, while the others are suppose to be skills in which you can get done faster due to there being a large amount of people taking the test, so they instructors said no bed making or bed baths. Share your thoughts much appreciated!

I felt that the written test was fairly easy; infection control, privacy, and residents rights. The clinical portion is tested on 3 skills one always being hand washing. I was tested also on taking a pulse and dressing a resident with a weak side. Some of my friends were tested on range of motion, nail care, and positioning. Hope this helps !

I passed the test in MA many years ago and it was a breeze but, 17 out of the 20 people I took it with failed....... for NOT washing their hands. Don't forget to wash your hands! You will not perform; vitals, full bed bath, bed making and feeding is very rare. I was given; oral care, nail care and moving from high fowlers to supported semi-fowlers.
