Hello, I'm having a hard time which Nurse practitioner school to attend. I applied to two family nurse practitioner programs. I currently live in springfield, massachusetts. I have to mention that I want to pay out of pocket

FNP program #1 american international college located in springfield, massachusetts 10 minutes away from my house. Help with clinical placement, tuition $41000 for the whole program. Coursework offered 1 course at a time for 7 weeks. online Full-time format with completion in just over two and a half years. one three day in person residency. Complimentary clinical placement services Clinical hours with a preceptor near my community. CCNE Accredited*

FNP program #2 Texas Woman's university located in Denton, Texas  4hours via airplane. help with clinical placement. tuition $27000 for the entire program.

Finish in 2 years full-time; 2.5 to 3 years part-time. 13-week courses, 3 robust direct patient care experiences Placement support services provided. please help me decide which one to attend.

It would be very tempting to choose option 2 and save that $14,000.... but I think that up front dollar saving could be significantly less by the time you are all done.

The cost of flights, hotels, ubers or hire cars and meals while traveling for your placements is going to add up. I'm not a NP but I understand obtaining appropriate clinical placements and preceptors can be a significant challenge. I imagine this may be even more of a challenge if you don't have any local contacts from working in the area.

I would probably choose option 1 that includes the required placements and preceptors and comes with the bonus of being in your local area which allows the potential to network in what is I assume you future job market.

thank you kp2016 for your feedback
