Am I being "too picky" with recruiters/companies?

I'm looking for an agency for my 1st assignment. I've done 6 months of solid research, have a self-made "travel nursing binder", & have a lengthy list of questions for each recruiter. I feel extremely prepared, know exactly what I want, & began talking to recruiters yesterday (3 agencies so far).

I got a weird/bad vibe after talking to MOST (i.e. 2 out of 3) recruiters. What I mean by "bad/weird vibe": The recruiters stammered/got a bit frustrated/became pushy when I asked certain questions. They commented on how good (but unusual) it is to talk to a new traveler that's done as much research as I have....hmmm. :uhoh3:

All that being said, here are my questions for the travelers:

1) How many agencies did you talk to before you found the right one?

2) Did you get the same bad/weird vibe as I did from the majority?

3) Am I overanalyzing/being too picky since I'm getting more bad vibes than good? (My gut says no b/c I feel I must be very careful & refuse to "settle", but I wanna hear your thoughts).

Any advice/thoughts/opinions would be appreciated. Thanks a million & much love to you all! :redpinkhe

Bad vibes are hardly ever good. Accepting that everything won't always work out exactly the way you want is a good idea though. It has been a long time since my "first" assignment and I was an unusual first time traveler, so my experience won't help you much. I will tell you that once you find a good recruiter it's very easy to work with them. They know you and you know how to get things done with them. It is harder to find right now. I have a three that I am currently working with. Have taken assignments with only two but the third one is out there just in case. Try to keep everyone updated on my status. I do a lot of HCA facilities so I only use All About Staffing with any of those hospitals. If I can't find an HCA then I go with the other two. Have had to change recruiters within HCA but my current one seems to be more like the personality I need. Stay picky with the important stuff, but remember you have to be flexible in this position. I've seen two travel professionals released after just a couple weeks at my current assignment. Not sure exactly what happened, but I think being demanding and inflexible were a couple of traits they couldn't let go of. Good luck, hope you find the one.

Thanks so much for the advice, much appreciated! :)

What questions provoked this response? You may well have been asking questions with proprietary answers that no agency is comfortable answering. Questions like how many travelers do you have, what is your bill rate, how many assignments terminate, and so on.
