Hello everyone,
I recently just graduated with my LVN. I started my first job without hesitation, as I was very excited to get my career started. The job I am currently at is not "hard". We don't have mandatory overtime, mandatory vaccination (I am vaccinated by choice), 12-hour shifts (two days on and two days off), 30-minute breaks, and we can wear our own scrubs. What is tedious about this job is the incompetent staff and lack of skill usage. I could do this job until I retire, but I don't think it is best for me. As a new grad, I want a job that will make me critically think, use skills, and prepare me for an RN role (applying Spring 2022). I have been at this job since August, and I have done: 1 EKG, 1 FHT, several head-to-toe assessments, and 1 chance at an IV. Do you think going bedside and wanting a more challenging position is insane? Or should I be grateful for the position I currently have? I really just want the skill usage.
