AVerage salary for lpns in alabama

U.S.A. Alabama

I will be relocating to Alabama after I finish up LPN school what is the average for LPn's in the ALabama area I am moving near huntsville and how hard is it for new nurses to find work in the area

Specializes in Med-Surg.

I can't speak for the Huntsville area(I'm closer to Tuscaloosa) but I'll tell you what I know. I graduated from LPN school last August. When I applied to the hospital that I work at now I had absolutely no problem getting a job. I had at least six calls for interviews the day after I interviewed with HR. I don't know if that's typical or not but it worked for me. My base pay is 12/hour. After shift diff and med/surg diff I make 14.25 on 3-11 and 14.75 on 11-7. Around here nursing homes tend to pay better but I prefer working in the hospital myself. My hospital does have a weekend plan however that pays an extra 4 to 6 dollars/hour depending on the shift. Again, things may be different in Huntsville but I hope this helps. Good luck!

I am a new LPN grad myself and from my job searching in Mobile the base pay seems to be around 14.00

I am still a student in Huntsville so I have not applied but from what our instructors tell us you will not have a problem, if fact they encourage us to negotiate with the facilitys b/c they have a hard time turning down nurses that want a job. I'm not sure about pay but I know lots of places pay more for weekends. Hope this helps!!
