I'm a nursing aide, uncertified. Trying to get my certification in both CNA and med-aid while going to nursing school as a single mom of 3. My work place of a month seems to have a lot of issues. High turn over, cliquey, I've gotten eye rolls from higher ups and I've just been treated very disrespectfully. I haven't been trained properly and I don't want my career jeopardized by a bad work spot or lack of proper training, etc. I'm contemplating trying to still get my med aide through them and go down to PRN and work a different job to provide for my family while I'm going to nursing school. I was wondering if anyone else has had to do this... And any advice. I love working with the residents, I'm not perfect and definitely do have room for improvement, but I'm not only open to learning more... I am eager to be learning more. How would you word this to higher ups? I have seen an infant in the med room and brought to work for shifts and staff meetings, I have seen a resident be yelled at by an lpn, communication is lacking... most don't try to understand dementia or chronic pain. I see it as, our residents aren't just old and "dramatic"(coworkers call them this) but ill. They should be treated with respect It's definitely not a place I would send my mother or grandmother to...
