I'm just finishing all my pre-req's, I'll be 36 this year, I began this journey back in 1991, had to take a small break (14 years long) then picked up where I left off in 2006. Now I am not stopping until I get my RN degree.

Good luck to all..

18 when I started my pre-reqs. I start nursing school in August and will be 20!!

All you people who are starting nursing at an older age are so cool :D I salute you!

As for me, I started prereqs in Fall 2006 at age 27. I'm 29 now and will finish the prereqs at Spring next year. By that time I'm looking into getting into an accelerated BSN program and be out in 2011 at age 32. I have two previous bachelors degrees and this will be my second career :)

With two bachelor degrees already, you should look at a direct-entry MSN program instead of adding #3 to the list. I'm in an accelerated DEMSN program which is 18 months to a master's degree and a date with the NCLEX.

I am the older one of the bunch. I started my prereqs at 41. I just turned 42. I pretty much did them all in one year, working my butt off to get them out of the way for May entry to an accelerated program. I am going to JHU.

I just went back to school again this last Summer and am close to finishing my pre-reqs. Just A&P II and III and one writing class to finish. It's been interesting taking classes with students who are literally young enough to be my children! I'm 39, though much younger at heart :-).

Started in Summer of '06 and I was 24

I'm glad someone asked the question because I was curious. I took my first aim at college right out of high school at age 18 and only managed to get grades in philosophy, sociology, Spanish, US Gov't, before dropping out to be a kid wasting time. I got married, had four kids and went recently to midwifery school (non-nurse variety) and graduated there in 2006 at end of age 36. I decided I wanted to move forward so I took one full year of community college for English comp, intro and elementary algebras, intro to psych, A&P. This semester is microbiology, dev. psych, and medication calculations. I can apply after this semester is finished. I'll be 39 next month :smiley_aa. I have no idea how long it will take to get into school and how long it will take (ADN? BSN?). I figured I met the original midwifery goal 2 years early so I'm hoping to be finished with everything by age 45. Yeesh.

Nursing will be a second career for me. I started pre-req's in January '07 just after I turned 47. I start clinicals this coming September and will be 50 when I graduate. I have more than a few classmates that are my contemporaries.

I am 50 and starting the pre-req thing too. I accually have to take some classes over cause I wasn't focused 30+ years ago. :uhoh3: That will cost me a year at least. But not a biggie. My job is picking up the tab this time. :bowingpurGlad to hear there are peeps close to my age blazing new territory !

I'm 37.

I'm almost 37 and will be 38 when i finish my basic review classes. Pre-req's will take me another year for the lpn program, if i choose to do that. I just started school this year taking 1 class only after 18 years. I take 1 class at a time since I have 4 kids one still at home all day. Next year ill take 2 classes per semester.
