Another oldie but goodie here. I started my pre-reqs at age 49 just over a year ago. I'm still working on them but have applied to NS (an ASN program at a community college) and hope to start this fall. That would make me almost 53 when I graduate. Yikes! It really is inspiring to hear that I'm not alone in a sea of the young and that there is hope for us yet. I've been working full time throughout, albeit my hours are flexible and I work from home, and it has been tough. It's worth it though, and my grades so far prove to me that putting in the time really pays off. I just hope they're good enough to earn me that wonderful acceptance letter in a couple of months. Good luck to one and all of us! :nurse:

I just started my pre-reqs this semester. Im 24 now i will be 25 next week. I wonder how old i will be when i graduate my ADN nursing program. I hope this doesnt take to long....

18, I started the day before I graduated high school. I took a year off when I had my son and I finally finished with my prereqs at 22 by only being a 1/2-full time student. I applied for spring '07 program and did not get it and this fall will be my 2nd time! I will be 23 next week. Hopefully IF i get in, I will be able to be get my RN by 25. Its a lot harder to pursue a career when you have other obligations-- like kids. You are never too old to start! If nursing is for you, age will not matter. Persistance pays off.

I was 18 when I started my pre-reqs, I will be finished with all of them and my co-requisite classes this spring. I have applied for Fall 08 nursing programs!!! I will be 21 when starting the program....

21 when I started taking classes, 25 when I knew I wanted to be a nurse and started working on degree-specific classes. 28 now, and still going...

or as I call myself: 'well seasoned'

I just turned 17 today and will start mine this fall. After talking to some people from the Nursing School and several graduates at Louisiana Tech, we don't have certain waiting time. I guess when you consider there are only 35-45 seats and 300+ applicants there is though. lol

18 started pre req's, Currently 19 still working on them as a gen.studies nursing major, will be 20 when I enter the ADN program officially!

I was 18 when I started my nursing pre-reqs...I'm in my last semester of pre-reqs now, and IF I get into the Accelerated nursing program, I'll be 21 when I get my BSN :) However, who knows about that acceptance letter! I am not getting ahead of myself...considering how little chance there is to get into nursing school for me!

I'll be 28 when I begin at JHU in Fall 2008, started pre-reqs at 25, previously graduated with a BA Psychology in Spring 2004. I'm resigned to the fact that I'm a perpetual student.

My BSN will take 21-months (graduate and become licensed at 30) and if I continue to the MSN portion, potentially two more years. :p

I started taking prerequisites when I was 29 but they weren't intended to be for nursing school; I was actually going for a chemistry degree with biology minor. I finished my prerequisites in one semester at the age of 42.
