After 22yrs, I'm in Nursing!

Published

Hello everyone, I'm a new member on Allnurses.com and wanted to introduce myself.

My name is Anne-Marie and I'm 42 yrs old. I decided to change careers and after being away from any formal education for over 22 years, I'm now registered in the Nursing program at HACC in Lancaster, PA. Within 4 weeks of committing to my decision, I went through a whirlwind of entrance assessments and CLEP exams, registered and sat in my first anatomy class! Talk about starting with a BANG! lol

I have always been extremely passionate about the body and natural healing. (thanks Dr. Axe) I'm so amazed by the complexities of the body's self-regulating physiology. I decided that I wanted to help people who end up in dead-end situations with undiagnosed ailments and feel hopeless in their struggles to feel better. I believe that pharma has a time and a place and that our bodies, for the most part, can heal itself. I'm THINKING that as a nurse practitioner, I'll be able to function in the capacity I'm passionate about.

OMG I've got such a long road ahead. I can't think about it or I'll discourage myself but why oh why didn't I think of this earlier in life? Oh well, here I am, no sense in having regrets.

If anyone wants to share their story with me, have advice or recommendations on a path that will serve me best, or just want to give me a shout out and introduce themselves, I'll welcome all of your comments. I think this site is amazing and from what I've read so far, what a great support group!

I look forward to hearing from you!
