Okay, I moved to Canada September 1st (2nd long term stay & now Permanent Resident). I have been in contact with a lady at CHRA. Once on my return I contacted her and I am now working in a ward as a NA in which I wish not to be in once I become a Grad RN. I am not sure what to say to her (besides being grateful and honored for the offer) when that time comes to work in that ward that I am on now. As I already had the experience back home in Australia working as a Graduate Nurse in the same type of ward. I promised myself to be kind and not to work on Cardiac as its not for me. This is why I wish to find the words to say to her when the time comes that I am granted Temporary Practice Permit to work as a Grad Nurse. My interest is to work in Canada as either a Rehabilitation Nurse or in Community Nursing.
Your advice would be appreciated as I wish for my life in Canada to work out including a career in nursing in the area that I wish to be in, no one else.
Thanks;)

Hi WYZQO7
I really didnt enjoy that SEC assessment? I found it hard. If I was able to do my SEC in March next year as I wanted to, then it might have been a different story. I felt ridiculous. I met another Philipino nurse at Mount Royal College, she had 5 days of doing the SEC assessment, I only had two days for the PEDIATRICS AND OBSTRETICS.
Study: Anatomy & Physiology of Woman in pregnancy, know the APGAR scores (assessment of baby), know your pediatrics calculations which in volve the weight doseages, know how to give education to a woman expecting baby (pre, during and post pregnancy), know about contractions and when the woman is about to deliver, know the developmental stages of infancy to youth.
I went into the SEC assessment very quickly as there was an availability sooner to plan. I was advised to try and get it done sooner. I went into it with Whatever, again if I had more time to study for the March assessment I may have been better for it.
I hope some of the information helps you out. It is intimidating process and I dont see the worth in it really. Its what Canada expects of IEN's so, do what you can.
In the end I am happy to do courses, and hopefully its a good tuition price.
Awaitng CARNA advice.
