Advice on how to time manage family and nursing school duties!

Published

Hello fellow nursing students and RN's,

currently i'm enrolled in my second semester in a part-time BSN program. Foundations is the course that I am struggling with, as there is so much information to read. All the material has made it difficult to get all the reading done in a timely manner, finish all the work for another class, balance family time as my twin girls are toddlers and fully concentrate on my full time job. I somehow started on a strong note, but recently I am feeling defeated and my school work is suffering along with my family and work.

I am reaching out in an effort to gain useful methods for time management and maybe a better way to understand foundations. I've already reached out to the tutoring department, but unfortunately they don't have many tutors for part time students.

Thank in advance!!!

if you have a partner I would discuss how the partner could do more since you are now doing more. Your degree will ultimately benefit everyone in the household. Othewise, talk to family about more assistance with the girls or financial assistance so you can work fewer hours. You may have to lower expectations regarding housework and hot meals and other deadlines.

Thank you Classicdame, my husband does stay with the girls and prepares the meals on those nights that, I not home. Unfortunately that is the extent of our family surrounding, and the guilt of not being part of there nightly routine put a strain on my ultimate goal. Financially, I would be unable to cut back. You are correct in stating to lower expectations regarding housework, that is one that I can ultimately begin to change. Thank you for your quick response and advice, I appreciate it.
