sign on bonuses are too good to be true! beware, imo. because in CA especially, the job market is saturated with new grad RNs, the hospitals don't want to pay for our training, must less sign on bonuses. If the hospital has money for sign-on bonuses, you have to ask why are they trying to entice nurses with sign-on bonuses, why aren't nurses flocking to the job openings at said hospital.
Sometimes, its basically the hospital location, or maybe its the hospital itself that makes people avoid it.
Good luck!
It's a very tight market in a lot of California, for both new grads and experienced nurses. Coastal CA is saturated; I heard that inland CA is somewhat better. Housing is expensive here.
Given that you may be looking for that job for a while, do not move down here without a job offer in hand if it's at all possible.

Hi there, I'm looking for any helpful advice from anyone (especially other Canadains) who have moved to California for their careers in Nursing.
My main concerns are housing, I understand that it is very expensive.
And are companies offering sign on bonuses too good to be true?
Any thoughts, comments, or advice is welcome.
Thanks very much:o
