Advice on position offered

Hello all. I'm looking for advice I recently got offered a position as an ER nurse as a new grad. I accepted. I was told HR would contact me and it has been 3 weeks since I got the verbal offer. I did call the nurse recruiter 2 weeks ago to tell her that I had not heard from HR but she said HR needs to get all the paperwork first. My question is how long does one usually wait for HR to contact then and how long before I contact the recruiter again about not hearing from HR? I do not want to come off as a complainer but it took me almost year to get this job offer and I just do not want to be forgotten. Am I worrying too much? Also I had a temporary job lined up as a summer camp nurse and recently declined it because of the new job offer. What should I do??

Also orientation is every 2 weeks and the last one mentioned to me by the recruiter was mid July that I could attend depending on HR. I have not filled out any paperwork as of yet.

If it is a big hospital then it there might be a lot of offers/applications/paperwork for HR to process. It's not unusual for this process to take several weeks. I would suggest calling HR directly if you have not heard anything in another week. At least ask when you should expect to hear.

call or drop by. Say you want to be sure they have the right contact number or some such. It SHOULDN'T take this long, but sometimes does. Sorry. You must be anxious.

Send them a request in writing like a fax or email (paper trail) explainig that you would like to CONFIRM your offer of employment, on XYZ unit, XYZ shift, date of hire, start date/oreintation date. These are your concerns. You can also mention that you tried to contact them previosly but was unsuccesul in gaining the information you requested. State your letter with a tone that is very professional and pleasant, not demanding. You are just a concerned applicant and are bringing it to thier attention. Feel free to address the letter to the HR person and also the person who is over that person. I do not think you wll be stepping on any toes.

This tx is unprofessional. Give them a 2-3 days to respond, if no response, follow it up with a phone call.

Ask for a Formal Offer Letter.... if they need a reason say its for a (new) apartment you want to get and they need it to verify where you work (and it has to be in writing).
