Advice please for Nursing Integrative Practicum in the OR

Published

Hello, I'm a nursing student in a 3-year BSN program, who got placed into the Operating Room for my Nursing Integrative Practicum during the last year of my program which will start in the fall of 2024. I would like to know if anyone has some advice about how to be an excellent IP nursing student during my last year of clinicals in the OR? I am trying to get ahead and study over the Summer to prepare myself for the operating room and want to make sure I'm a good student in working with my preceptor. When I graduate my plan is to get into an OR nurse residency program and get into the operating room as a new grad nurse, with the intention of getting my AORN, ACLS and my First Assist license down the road. Any insight about how to prepare for my fall placement is much appreciated. I am very much looking forward to my IP placement and learning as much as I can. Thank You 🙂
